Really cold (42 degrees) but great race with a final sprint for the finish. Nice job by the rider who took first as I have nothing left in the tank to get around him. My bottom line is I need to train more. Hoping for one more CAT 5 (top 3) before moving to CAT 4 :-)

Solid race. Missed a 3 man break. Coming into last corner made stupid mistake of leading field into last 1km and got swamped by the field/sprint at the finish.

Very chilly, windy, and wet day of racing. A break got away fairly early. I tried to stay near the front all day. Made several attempts to get off the front to chase the lead group but the pack was having nothing of it. It was a typical day of negative racing in the 3/4 field. I still don't understand the tactics of the big teams, like Dark Horse that just sit in the pack all day - even to the very end. There's no effort to reel the break in and anyone who tries to start a chase gets shut down. In any case, I was feeling pretty good and in a good position in the pack on the last lap until both quads locked up on one of the rollers. Started cramping so bad I dropped off the back of the pack. They were going so slow, however, I caught back on again, just as they accelerated. Dropped off again and caught back on again without really trying. Going into the last K the cramping was subsiding so I just rode as hard as I could through the pack to the finish. It was a disappointing and frustrating day.
